Ski Racing Australia Board Update – Issue 13
Dear Members,
Ski Racing Australia has been advised that the Special Purpose Investigation (SPI) final report has been released by Transport for NSW to the public.
The recommendations in the report are still to be discussed with the Executive Director NSW Maritime, and the SRA Board are awaiting confirmation of a meeting to discuss conditions of Aquatic Licenses that will be applied for in NSW.
SRA, having now received the SPI final report, can now continue to finalise policies to address the findings in the report.
SRA’s All of Sport Review in early 2024 and the subsequent suspension of the sport afforded SRA the opportunity to review and recreate a broad risk management framework to minimise the likelihood of incidents occurring in the first place, and then, should an incident occur, minimise the consequences.
What underlies this framework is a series of preventative policies that will elevate the governance and risk management of the sport of water ski racing, delivering more robust and safe systems of operations moving forward.
These include but are not limited to:
- SRA COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM POLICY
- SRA COURSE & EVENT RATING POLICY
- SRA DRIVER & OBSERVER PROGRESSION POLICY (LICENCE GRADING SYSTEM)
- SRA SKIER PROGRESSION POLICY (LICENCE GRADING SYSTEM)
- SRA INCIDENT & INVESTIGATION POLICY
- SRA PPE DEVELOPMENT
- SRA CONCUSSION POLICY
- SRA IN-BOAT STATUS AWARENESS SYSTEM POLICY
- SRA SANCTIONING POLICY
- SRA SCRUTINEERING POLICY
SRA will be holding online member information forums with further details to be advised.
We ask that, as a ski racing community, we work together to stay positive and determined to have our sport rise again. A lot of discussion will be held in your own communities, and we ask that you reach out to your state delegates for any additional information you are requiring.
