SRA Board Update: The Road Back to Racing July 2026
Hello SRA Members,
We wanted to take this opportunity to update you on what has been happening behind the scenes and more importantly, share some exciting news as we head towards spring.
Racing Returns in Queensland
Ski Racing Queensland has submitted its proposed racing dates and received approval from Maritime QLD and Sunwater to commence racing. We are incredibly excited to see competitors returning to the water safely.
The program looks like a fantastic “Back to Racing” initiative and as highlighted across Ski Racing Queensland’s
social media channels, there is a strong focus on learning from the past, moving forward, and rebuilding ski racing in Queensland. For further information and updates head to www.skiracingqueensland.com.au
Ski Racing Victoria
Ski Racing Victoria is currently in the process of confirming dates starting in October.
Over the coming weeks, they expect to be in a position to announce their racing calendar.
Ski Racing New South Wales
Ski Racing NSW is continuing to work closely with all stakeholders to confirm suitable dates for a return to racing on the mighty Hawkesbury River.
What SRA Is Working On
SRA continues to work closely with our risk assessment and compliance teams to ensure we are ready to return to racing safely and responsibly.
Insurance and Membership
SRA are currently finalising insurance cover for our sport and once complete we will be able to advise on membership fees. At that stage membership documentation will be sent to existing members and open to new members.
Technical Committee Applications
As outlined in last week’s communication, applications remain open for our new Technical Committee.
We have already received some outstanding applications, but we would love to hear from anyone interested in contributing to the technical side of our sport. Have you been on committee in past? If you have the experience, passion, and desire to help shape the future of ski racing, we encourage you to get involved.
PPE Testing and Safety Initiatives
Our PPE testing program continues, with the Safety Committee working hard to identify solutions that will further reduce risk and improve safety for all competitors on the water.
Regular Meetings
The SRA Board, Compliance Committee, Racing Committee and Safety Committee are committed to meeting fortnightly to ensure the transition back to racing is as smooth and successful as possible.
What You Can Do Now?
As we prepare for racing to resume, there are several important things members can do to help.
Check Your CPR and First Aid Qualifications
Current CPR certification remains a requirement for all competitors. As racing has been paused for some time,
the SRA database requires updating to ensure all member records are accurate and current.
The minimum CPR qualification accepted is HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This certification must include face-to-face training and assessment.
If your CPR or First Aid certificate is valid, please email a copy to memberships@skiracing.com.au so we can update our records.
Ski Racing Australia (SRA) Medical
A current SRA Medical is required for:
- All drivers
- All observers
- Skiers aged 18 years and over
Review Your Working With Children Check
Please take a moment to confirm that your Working With Children Check is current. If you have recently renewed or updated your details, please forward the information to memberships@skiracing.com.au so we can ensure the database remains accurate.
